multiple categories - is there documentation somewhere

I have hundreds of images on the server in a couple of dozen folders already. I'd like each folder to be a different category gallery.

Is this possible?

How is it done?

Is there a way to do it without having to upload everything all over again?

Can I just point to a directory?

In the configuration I set the media folder name to the folder that has all the photo folders, but that doesn't do anything. When I go to "Albums" nothing shows up. How do I get those images to show up there?

Is there comprehensive documentation on this somewhere? I'm good at following instructions but can't find any anywhere.

Hello,

All albums must reside under a specified root category.
By default it's "media/albums" but can be changed to anything else. Under this directory there should be folders with images. Each folder would be your album.
