Ajax Register -a few issues to sort out

12 years 9 months ago - 12 years 9 months ago #6502 by Randall McCallum
1. After and easy install, I found that the recatcha form stuff displays up over my site header and menu and not where it should be displayed.

2. When I set features, such as the following:

Asynchronous Check. - Yes
Display Password Strength -Yes
Display Clear Button - Yes
Error message type - text
Redirect Type - Redirect URL
Redirect URL -  canadiananswers.com/member-profile/profile/edit.html

Display Message - Yes
Auto-login -Yes
Autocomplete off - Yes
Email as username - No
Confirm email - No

Captcha - Recaptcha - Clean with the keys set properly

I then test out the front page Create an Account, and the Registration page appears.  I fill in the fields which goes smoothly. But the Recaptcha stuff is up above at the top of my site overlapping the menus.

I can test the Registration by filling in the displayed words.

When I click Register at the bottom it processes for a few seconds.

Then I am taken to the Home page. This is where things don't work as expected.

If I change to various settings such as Confirm email, I don't see the notification about the email verification. When I go to verify and activate from my email test location, I am brought back to the site. You can see what happens pretty quickly if I can send you my site admin access info.

Note: I just sent my site access info via your Contact email form.

I have tried all kinds of setting combinations, but now I needed some assistance to get it working properly.

I know these issues will be sorted out. not everything works smoothly first time.  I am using a new Rockettheme template, and Joomla 1.7.3 based site.

I await your reply.  Look forward to this being sorted out.mitbwill be so nice having a professional Registration system on my site.

Thanks

Hello,

"Recaptcha stuff up above at the top of the site overlapping the menus" was your template's fault (rt_halcyon) which was setting this in the CSS. I removed this and now it's fine.

The rest of the things works as it should. You register, it sends the email, you confirm by clicking on the link, it redirects you to the page you want. In this case it can't redirect you to the page you specified since you must login first to access that page. You may want to turn on auto-login feature.

The only problem I see is that your template doesn't display the system message that you registered and that the confirmation mail has been sent. That's something you should fix in the template.

Saka,

Thanks for the assistance on this.

Re: The only problem I see is that your template doesn't display the system message that you registered and that the confirmation mail has been sent. That's something you should fix in the template.

The template does displays system messages, because I get some of them sent from your component, so I am not sure what you mean about the template does not display the system message that you registered and that confirmation has been sent.

There is something missing here and if you suggest I am having to fix this in the template, I request that this be checked further, as I do believe it is caused by the Ajax Register component.

I am not that adapt at coding, so hopefully I can get this figured out, or get some assistance from you on this as it is appreciated. I guess worst case if I am left to my own devices on this, I can contact Rockettheme support or the StackIdeas team as they are awesome at helping. I am using the login component from StackIdeas.

Any assistance to track this down and fix is appreciated?

I guess the problem was with that redirect. If you don't use any redirect you should be fine.

Question,

If I can't use the redirect, than it defeats the purpose of why I bought the component in the first place.

Now I am getting a 1056 Error, after I click the activation link.

I changed the settings to:

- allow for Referrer,
- yes to send an email,
- no to auto-login

I saw the email notification after I clicked Register, but I remained on the Register page (the fields went empty), then I opened my email account tab, clicked on the activation link that was sent, and then
I went to an error page with an 1056 - Invalid controller: name='user', format='html'  message.

Screencast Video of steps involved to produce 1056 error

This time it has to be the Ajax Register component causing the issue and not my template.

Here is another screencast video showing what happens to cause the error
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xzmm0D2VOPk

Somehow I have to get some more support to fix this as I am lost as to how this can fixed without your assistance. Each day my site is down, is not good. I know this can be frustrating, but without technical support this is not usable.

Help appreciated. As I believe once it is fixed, with no issues of using all the features, then it will be real good. I don't give up easily.

I have confidence this will be fixed.

You can use redirect but you can't redirect to a place which requires login.

I fixed the bug with the login after the registration and made a screencast for you:
