Need help undertsanding strings

Am I correct that any link to a content item from a blog content category menu item will incluce /blogcategory/ in the URL?  And is it true that I can change this, but only once ie: all URLs to content items in any section will share the same string assigned to /blogcategory/?

No you are not. The links to articles will always be /section/category/item/ regardless of how they are accessed, from blog or from listing.

And there is no way to remove the section?
