Conversion to readable link

what is the best way to conver a DF Contact Link -tried several options nothing seems to work?

Something is wrong with that link. You should not have two Itemid:s.
Turn on debug in SEF Advance admin and see which Request URL and which Itemid it spits out. Then enter that URL with that Itemid in alias as non-sef URL.

Alias:
non-sef URL: index.php?option=com_dfcontact&Itemid=XX
SEF URL: contact

I setup a new menu item (trashed/removed old) with ID 73 and went through the Alias setup exactly as you wrote - the component refused recognition on the main menu - when composed the way you indicated.
