I am having an issue with assigning SEF alias urls to category list items. It always wants to default to the automatic SEF Advance urls even after we specify an alias. Why is it not allowing us to create the alias urls? Thanks

Probably because the non-sef URL you enter is wrong. Make sure it is correct with right Itemid.
