AJAX Register just got a major update. It got one of the most requested features for Joomla registration: custom fields. You can now create unlimited number of custom fields for Joomla registration form. As usually, all fields are validated as you type and you can add all kinds of fields: text, text area, radio buttons, check boxes and select lists with unlimited number of options and more.
Registration of users in Joomla has always missed ability to add some extra fields customized for your site. This shortage has been partially addressed by introducing user profile plugin in Joomla 2.5. This plugin enables you to add some extra fields on registration, like post address, date of birth etc. The problem is that it's only a limited, predefined set of fields available and you can't change nor expand them.
Create custom fields with AJAX Register
AJAX Register 2.0 now solves this problem by allowing you to add unlimited number of custom fields for Joomla registration. You can create totally arbitrary text or text area input fields or even radio buttons, select lists or check boxes with unlimited number of options. This allows you to take additional information from registered users that is perfectly fit for just your site.
In addition to server-side validation, all custom fields also have client-side validation performed as you type, just like you are used to with AJAX Register. It will not only validate all required fields, but also validate for set rules, like date or URL.
What about the data?
The data that user entered on registration is available both to administrators and to user himself. The user can view the data on his user profile in the frontend and change it any time. Admins can find the data in Joomla user manager, when they edit each user. In addition to that, AJAX Register can also export all users to a CSV file along with all extra fields you created. This allows you to easily collect information from your users and import it to any other application that support it.
Upgrade information
The upgrade is free for existing AJAX Register customers within the subscription period.
- If you have AJAX Register 1.9, you can just install 2.0 on top of the old installation to upgrade.
- If you have AJAX Register 1.8 or lower you will have to uninstall the old version before installing 2.0.
