SEF Advance has just been updated. New versions are called 2.0 for Joomla 1.5 and 6.0 for Joomla 1.0 / Mambo. The new versions bring several exciting new features, like options for adding new Canonical tag and automatic insertion of nofollow, target and new-window icon to outgoing links.

Canonical Tag

SEF Advance can now automatically generate new Canonical tag that helps Google distinct duplicate content pages, should such exist. You can also add a manual Canonical tag to any page instead of automatically generated one.

Content SEO

New options for optimizing the content for search engines allow you to automatically add ref="nofollow" to help preserving your PageRank, add target="_blank" and new-window icon to all outgoing links in your articles. All that in addition to previously existing automatic insertion of alt-tags to images, titles to Read more... links and H1 tags to headlines.

Metadata Counters

New counters available on alias administration will give you indication of how long the metadata should be based on recommended maximal values.

Future Upgrades

In future, you will also be able to do upgrades of SEF Advance 2008 (for Joomla 1.5) by installing the new version on top of your existing installation. No uninstalling required but make sure to save your settings first (Backup -> Export).

SEF Advance upgrades can be requested at the automatic download page.
To upgrade from previous version export your settings, uninstall the old version, install the new one and import the settings again. No data will be lost.
